FICCI’s Advisor to the Board and Managing Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd (BPBL) Rupali Haque Chowd- hury has been prestigiously recognized as a Commercially Important Person (CIP) (Industry) by the Government. She has received this status for her commendable leadership as the President of FICCI for the year 2021. Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque MP, the Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture handed over the award to Rupali at a grand ceremony held at the InterContinental Dhaka on May 22, 2023. Previously she has received this prestigious recognition for eight times.
BAT GROUP APPOINTED SHEHZAD MUNIM AS THE AREA DIRECTOR FOR APMEA CENTRAL
BAT Group has appointed Shehzad Munim as the Area Director for APMEA Central, a Direct Reporting Business Unit (DRBU), which has been made effective from 1st April 2023. In his new role, he will lead both the Bangladesh and Sri Lanka markets. Shehzad has been working with BAT for almost 25 years and is the first Bangladeshi to become an Area Director in the BAT Group.

The Board of Directors of FICCI has elected Deepal Abeywickrema, Chairman and Managing Director of Nestle Bangladesh Limited as the Senior Vice President of the chamber.
Deepal Abeywickrema, managing director of Nestlé Bangladesh PLC, has also been appointed as the chairman of the company, effective from April 6 this year.
With over 30 years of experience in Nestlé, Abeywickrema also served in expatriation to diverse countries like India, Australia and Malaysia where he gained a profound understanding of business dynamics. Under the astute and prudent leadership of Abeywickrema, Nestlé has widely been recognised as the leading nutrition, health, and wellness company in Bangladesh, ensuring long-term sustainable growth and creating shared value for society.
FICCI BOARD CO-OPTED NEW BOARD OF DIRECTOR
FICCI board has co-opted Rajat Diwaker as the new Director of the FICCI Board. Rajat is the Managing Director of Marico Bangladesh Limited (MBL). FICCI board congratulated him for his new role in the chamber.
Rajat Diwaker took over as Managing Director of Marico Bangladesh Limited (MBL) in August 2022. He joins Marico Bangladesh after three years with Marico Limited, India, where he was Division Head for South. He has had a long experience in the areas of Sales, Trade Marketing, Franchise Management and General Management.
ENGR. ABDUR RASHID BECOME THE PRESIDENT OF SBCCI
FICCI Board of Director and Country Managing Director of SGS Bangladesh Limited Engr. Abdur Rashid has been elected as the President of Switzerland-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Indus- try (SBCCI) until the next AGM as the current president resigned from this position. Prior to that he has successfully served as the Chief Commercial Officer of Airtel for Africa. Rajeev is an accomplished executive possessing a wealth of domestic and international experience of leading organizations in both startup and established stage with a strong track record of excelling in dynamic and demanding environment. Rajeev has significant ICT industry experience, including executive engagements in companies such as Vodafone, HP, Hutchison Telecom and Asian Paints.
GROUP IQBAL CHOWDHURY, NEW CSO OF LAFARGEHOLCIM BANGLADESH
Mohammad Iqbal Chowdhury has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LafargeHoI- cim Bangladesh Limited. The Board of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited (LHBL) announced the appointment on 14 February 2023. Iqbal Chowdhury is the first Bangladeshi CEO of LHBL. He is a widely experienced professional with a strong commercial and financial track record spanning over a 22-years career in reputed Multinational Companies in the country.
